Details on the Case of Judge Gagik Heboyan Accused of Accepting Bribes

The case of Judge Gagik Heboyan, accused of accepting bribes, and lawyer Vahagn Danielyan will be heard in the Yerevan court. This was reported by NEWS.am, citing the 'Datalex' judicial information system. Judge Tatevik Grigoryan, dispatched from the Kotayk region court, has decided to hold an off-site session on June 13 at the Center of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.

It is noteworthy that four judges from the Kotayk regional court—Hovhannes Avagyan, Gegham Margaryan, Vardan Stepanyan, and Gor Shahbazyan—had previously recused themselves from the case concerning Heboyan, refusing to hear a case against their colleague. Following this, Judge Tatevik Grigoryan of the Yerevan court was temporarily assigned to the Kotayk regional court, and the case was assigned to her.

As a reminder, Gagik Heboyan has been charged with the fact that while holding the position of a judge at the Kotayk regional court, acting as the head of a judicial authority and continuously performing the functions of a representative of the authority, he personally demanded and, with the assistance of lawyer Vahagn Danielyan from the Bar Association, received a particularly large bribe on March 27, 2019, for taking action within his powers on behalf of Benik Harutyunyan.
