Beware: Non-Compliant Salt Found in the Market
Based on a citizen's alert, the Armenian National Food Safety Inspectorate conducted an inspection at the "Salttex" LLC, a company importing salt from the Islamic Republic of Iran, to check for potassium and sodium ferrocyanide levels in the salt labeled as "Triple Refined Salt."
The examination results revealed that salt batches packaged in 100-gram units produced on February 22, 2019, and April 25, 2019, contained potassium and sodium ferrocyanide levels exceeding the established norm (25.419 mg/kg instead of the permissible 20 mg/kg). Additionally, the product labeling lacked information verifying the quantity of potassium and sodium ferrocyanide (E 536).
The Inspectorate has issued a written order to the operator, prohibiting the sale of a total of 500 kg of the specified product in "Salttex" LLC's warehouse, recalling it from the market, and requiring the addition of information on the labeling regarding the quantity of potassium and sodium ferrocyanide.
