Robert Kocharyan's Request to Change Bail Conditions Did Not Aim to Create Additional Tension: 'Armenpress'

The request to change the bail conditions of Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, was not directed at undermining the functioning of the Armenian judicial system, said Bako Sahakyan, the President of Artsakh, in an interview with journalists at the National Assembly of Armenia.

Sahakyan addressed reporters' comments regarding the actions he and former Artsakh President Arkadi Ghukasyan took, which allegedly stirred tensions.

“You know, our request stated that this action did not aim to create additional tensions. On the contrary, if there is tension, it is aimed at alleviating it. Our request indicated that it is not an action aimed at questioning the judicial process in Armenia, but rather a request to change the bail conditions,” said Bako Sahakyan.

Bako Sahakyan also responded to a request from journalists regarding the speech by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on May 20, where the Prime Minister mentioned that there are forces attempting to incite disagreements, contradictions, and even hostility between the people of Artsakh and Armenia.

“If such figures and forces exist, then we must expose them; if such goals exist, then I also classify them as treason. In any case, I do not have information that there are such figures preparing treasonous actions,” said Bako Sahakyan.
