Will the Building of the Ministry of Transport Be Auctioned Again?
Preparations are being made to auction the building of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia once again. Narek Babayan, the head of the State Property Management Committee, stated this in an interview with Tert.am.
“In my opinion, simply putting it up for auction would be a mistake, as it could meet the same fate as previous attempts and lead to much more negative consequences. There needs to be a clearly developed proposal program and at least 1-2 interested parties must be present, with specific intentions. Currently, the hotel option is being discussed. It is very likely that the investor and the operating company will be different, which is usually the case,” Narek Babayan noted.
However, he found it difficult to specify the timeline for the auction, saying, “We do not need to rush unnecessarily.”
According to the head of the State Property Management Committee, during meetings with investors, the possibility of utilizing the Ministry of Transport building for other purposes is being presented. Narek Babayan does not rule out that the ministry's building may also be introduced at international exhibitions.
