Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Response to Henrikh Mkhitaryan's Visit to Baku

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has the right to participate in the UEFA Europa League final.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva stated that despite the tensions between the countries, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the midfielder of the Armenian national team and London’s Arsenal, has the right to attend the UEFA Europa League final taking place in Baku.

“There have been many major sporting events in Azerbaijan that Armenian athletes have attended. Sport is outside of politics,” Abdullayeva said.

It is worth recalling that yesterday, the Azerbaijan Football Federation assured UEFA that Arsenal and Armenian national team midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan would face no issues during his visit to Azerbaijan.
