Armen Sarkissian Hosts 99-Year-Old War Veteran at His Home

The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, today visited the home of Great Patriotic War veteran Mikit Amiryan. The President's visit was to congratulate the veteran not only on the occasion of the Victory and Peace Day but also for his birthday. Mikit Papik has turned 99 today, and among the congratulations from his relatives, the President's visit and well-wishes have been particularly special for him.

During the family atmosphere, President Sarkissian and the veteran, who has traversed the entire war, talked about the yesterday, today, and tomorrow of the Armenian people, reflecting on how they arrived at the present from the fires of war. In a direct conversation, the President inquired about Mikit Amiryan's health, asking about family and his past experiences. The 99-year-old veteran began his military journey in the Caucasus, fought in Ukraine, and Poland, and participated in the liberation of Prague and Berlin.

Apart from warm congratulations, President Sarkissian also expressed his gratitude to the 99-year-old veteran and, on his behalf, to all veterans for the victory they achieved, their contributions, and dedication to their homeland. Once again congratulating and thanking him for the hospitality, President Sarkissian expressed his conviction and promised that next year they will celebrate Mikit Amiryan's century anniversary together.
