Construction of Neighborhood by Tsarukyan Halted

The Kotayk Regional Administration has conducted a series of inspections at the Abovyan Municipality and has sent the materials related to the identified abuses to the Kotayk Prosecutor's Office. The Prosecutor's Office reports that one of the violations pertains to the construction work of a residential neighborhood in Abovyan initiated by the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan. According to the regional administration, the construction activities are illegal, as reported by News.am.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the violations under Article 315, part 1 (Continuing the illegal occupation of state or community-owned land parcels and failing to eliminate its consequences, as well as not stopping the construction of illegal buildings and structures) and part 2 (Illegal occupation of state or community-owned land parcels, as well as failing to take prescribed measures to stop or prevent the illegal construction of buildings and structures).

In an interview with News.am, Abovyan Mayor Vahagn Gevorgyan stated that the regional administration has noted purely documentation-related issues, after which the municipality sent a letter to the developer requesting a suspension of construction activities.

“There are several inaccuracies that need to be corrected. The developer has a construction permit for land works, and in the near future, we have agreed with the developer that the entire design package will be presented, and construction activities will resume,” said the mayor.
