Resignation of Armavir Penitentiary Head Was Staged; He Has Received a Higher Position
The newspaper "Zhamanak" reports that the resignation of Khachik Harutyunyan, the head of the Armavir penitentiary, as announced yesterday by Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan, is merely a theatrical performance.
In reality, Harutyunyan has received a promotion, having been appointed as the head of the regime department in the Penitentiary Service. Furthermore, no one has been held accountable for the numerous violations discovered by the National Security Service during inspections in the penitentiary. The atmosphere of impunity continues to prevail in Armenia's penitentiary institutions.
