Nazarbayev Personally Called Putin Before Resignation

Nursultan Nazarbayev personally called Russian President Vladimir Putin before resigning from the presidency of Kazakhstan, stated the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov. This was reported by interfax.ru.

“They frequently have phone conversations; this has always been the case in recent years. He called just hours before making the announcement,” Peskov said.

The Russian presidential spokesperson emphasized that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan will continue to develop at a high level in the near future. “Kazakhstan is a very important partner for Russia, so there is no doubt that relations will continue to evolve at a high level,” he added.
