Intrigues Within the CP: Unofficial Rival of Pashinyan, the 'Gray Cardinal,' Forms a Team
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak,' as the Civil Contract Party's congress approaches in May, intrigues have begun within the party. The essence of the matter is that a new leadership must be elected at the congress, and many are vying to stay or be included in the party's leadership team, where they can directly participate in decision-making.
The issue is particularly acute for Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, who is considered an unofficial rival of Pashinyan and the government’s 'gray cardinal.' It is said that he is intensively working to recruit allies within the team, as, according to the internal charter adopted by the CP, members of the leadership are elected by secret ballot.
Candidates aspiring to join the leadership include Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Makunts, and others. Currently, the CP leadership consists of 13 members, and it is possible that the composition may expand.
