The Legitimacy of the Army's Involvement in the March 1 Events Will Be Determined by the Court, Tonoyan Says

The question of the legitimacy of the presence of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia during the tragic events of March 1, 2008, must be determined by the court. This was stated today by Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan in a conversation with journalists at the Yerablur Pantheon.

“Our armed forces were utilized in connection with the declaration of a state of emergency before or after the events of March 1. That is, they were present in the city of Yerevan. The legitimacy of the Armed Forces' presence during the March 1 events will be established by the court,” Tonoyan said.
