Swiss Federal Court Rejects Appeal Against Armenian Genocide Memorial

The Swiss Federal Court has rejected an appeal by several citizens against the recently erected Armenian Genocide memorial in Geneva. According to Armenian News Agency "Armenpress," Swiss media outlet Swissinfo reports this development.

The media states that the Federal Court, in its decision published on February 18, dismissed the complaint from some Geneva residents who argued that "the erection of the memorial could lead to it becoming a place for protests or even conflicts between representatives of the Armenian and Turkish communities."

This decision brings an end to the long-standing controversy surrounding the memorial, which was inaugurated in April 2018 following debates and delays.

The designer of the memorial is French artist Melik Ohanian.
