Sheep Farming Sector in Paralysis
The newspaper ‘Zhoghovourd’ reports: ‘The livestock population in Armenia decreases year by year. Over the past year, the number of sheep has dropped by 67,000. This situation is highly alarming. After all, as is well known, sheep breeding requires a long time for reproduction.
Yesterday, during a government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also addressed the issue of the sheep farming sector. He instructed to implement and develop the mechanisms for exporting meat and live livestock. He also hinted that Armenia has enormous potential for exporting lamb and sheep meat.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the population of large cattle has decreased by 65,200 over the past year. If in 2017 the number of large cattle was 655,800, in 2018 it dropped to 590,600.
