Corruption in the Army Caused Damage of 422,236,614 AMD in 2018
In 2018, the Armenian Armed Forces recorded 182 cases of corruption, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on February 12 during a year-end meeting led by Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan. The Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan, was also present at the meeting.
This number represents an increase of 66 cases or 56.9 percent compared to the previous year. Materials have been prepared for all cases. Criminal cases have been initiated for 173 instances, with 43 cases against 86 individuals sent to courts. In total, facts have been established about material damage amounting to 422,236,614 AMD in criminal cases, which is 7.3 times more than the figures from 2017. In pre-trial proceedings, 410,653,037 AMD has been recovered, exceeding the outcome of 2017 by 8 times.
