Kocharian's Defense Team Receives Decision on Detention

Robert Kocharian's defense team received the decision from the first-instance court regarding the extension of his detention on the evening of yesterday.

This was stated by Haik Alumyans, one of Kocharian's defenders, during our conversation. He mentioned that he had reviewed the court's decision.

Yesterday, the defense team raised concerns that the court had not provided them with the decision.

The Central Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Arthur Mkrtchyan, had decided on January 18 to extend Robert Kocharian's detention for another two months, granting the petition of the preliminary investigation body.

Immediately after the announcement of the decision, the defense team filed an appeal.

It is reminded that on December 7, the Court of Appeals decided to uphold the decision of the first-instance court, after which Kocharian was detained. The defenders have already appealed this decision to the Court of Cassation. Kocharian is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order.
