Attempts of Double Voting Reported: Investigative Committee
The Armenian Investigative Committee reported that as of December 10 at 12:00, a total of 55 reports have been received in its regional subdivisions regarding voting violations recorded during the extraordinary elections of the National Assembly, which apparently contain features of crimes as defined by the criminal code.
Out of the reports received, 9 are from Yerevan, 5 from Syunik, 9 from Shirak, 4 from Aragatsotn, 9 from Ararat, 8 from Gegharkunik, 2 from Armavir, and 1 each from Vayots Dzor, Tavush, and Lori regions. An additional 6 reports regarding attempts of double voting have been received by the Main Military Investigative Department.
Of the materials containing apparent election violations, 51 relate to attempts at double voting, 3 to violations of voting secrecy, and 1 to obstructing the free exercise of voter will.
The 6 materials received by the military investigative department also concern attempts at double voting. Specifically, conscripts from military unit No. N of the Ministry of Defense, while participating in voting at different polling places, mistakenly informed the staff of the registration device of a different number instead of their voting number, resulting in the fingerprint device printing a double voting attempt slip.
The Investigative Committee’s regional subdivisions are taking necessary procedural actions to verify the circumstances indicated in the reports. Further information on the results will be provided subsequently.
