Iran has called to eliminate trade and transit obstacles at the Norduz border terminal with Armenia, according to IRNA. It was reported that the Secretary of the Supreme Council for Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones, Hosein Forouzan, visited the border checkpoint during his visit to the Aras Free Economic Zone (a major trade-industrial zone located at the border with Armenia and Azerbaijan, serving as an important bridge for trade with EAEU countries) on Saturday.

According to him, executive and regulatory bodies should avoid making disparate decisions, as coordinating the actions of different entities is necessary to simplify trade and transit processes at the border crossing.

Forouzan noted that reducing vehicle idle times and improving customs service quality are directly related to export development. He also emphasized that this would allow for better utilization of the region's transit potential and increase the efficiency of trade flows through the border crossing.

Meanwhile, the Iranian embassy in Armenia has highlighted the importance of strengthening trade, transit, and economic ties between Yerevan and Tehran. The diplomatic mission recalled that Norduz, the only land border crossing between Iran and Armenia, plays a strategic role in the development of regional trade and transit, as well as in connecting Iran with the markets of Armenia and the EAEU.

The embassy emphasized that the removal of existing barriers and the improvement of the efficiency of this border checkpoint could create a basis for the growth of exports, transit, and investments.
