Putin Appeals to the UN: Changes Expected in the Organization

The potential of the United Nations has not been fully revealed, and the international community must take steps to enhance the effectiveness of the organization. This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, during a speech at the "SCO+" format meeting.

The Russian leader emphasized the need for an expansion of the organization’s bodies, particularly the composition of the Security Council. According to him, this should occur at the expense of the Global South and Eastern countries, allowing the global body to adapt to the fundamental changes occurring in global politics and economics, as well as contemporary realities.

This year's current summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is hosted by Kyrgyzstan, which has taken over the presidency of the organization. Representatives from 17 countries and 6 international organizations are participating in the events held within the frameworks of the SCO and "SCO+" format.
