The Area Belongs to the State, It Must Be Demolished: Shengavit Resident

A resident of the Shengavit administrative district stated today during a conversation with reporters, "In order to receive housing assistance, we need to approach the social services, write an application, and the area belongs to the state, it needs to be demolished." This was in reference to an incident that occurred yesterday and the clarifications made today at the Shengavit municipality.

“We have not been provided with shelter yet; we have been told to approach the social services, write an application about our issue, and regardless, the territory belongs to the state, and it will be demolished. We will try to approach, submit an application. They said that one family might be eligible, and another might not, but all families will need to submit separate applications anyway. We will write now to understand what kind of housing we are talking about. The area is owned by the state, it belongs to no one, and we have not received any warnings before,” the resident mentioned.

The resident added that they have been told they may live in their homes until they write the application and receive a response, and based on the answer to the application, they will understand how they will be provided with housing and what assistance they can receive.

It should be noted that yesterday, officials from the Shengavit municipality, accompanied by police, attempted to demolish six residential cabins, while residents blocked the road leading to the cabins. The cabins are not privatized; according to the residents, they received them as a gift from philanthropists, and they have improved the area, which was previously a landfill.
