Zuckerberg Unveils Vision for Artificial Intelligence Development

Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg has released a manifesto regarding the development of artificial intelligence (AI), in which he deemed it dangerous for the most powerful AI models to remain accessible to a limited group of people, companies, or governments.

Zuckerberg advocated for further technological advancement, stating that many common fears surrounding AI do not adequately consider its potential benefits. He compared the development of AI to previous significant technological advancements, emphasizing that new technologies often initially raise concerns but ultimately contribute to improving the quality of life.

At the same time, the Meta founder also warned of associated risks. In his view, it would be hazardous if the most powerful models were concentrated in the hands of a limited number of individuals, companies, or states. To mitigate this risk, Zuckerberg suggested that making technology as widely accessible as possible could expand individual capabilities and foster a system of checks and balances.

He also mentioned that the United States and other democratic countries should maintain leading positions in the AI sector. Zuckerberg expressed concern that overly strict regulations in the U.S. could disadvantage the country compared to others.

The Meta founder warned that even a one-month delay in the release of new U.S. AI models could jeopardize the country's technological leadership, as developers' advantages are sometimes measured in just a few weeks.

Earlier, Anthropic also released a manifesto on AI, proposing mechanisms to slow down or temporarily halt the pace of technological development. The company believes this would provide society with time to assess the far-reaching implications of AI.
