Ukrainian Gas Stations Begin Limiting Diesel Fuel Sales

Ukrainian gas station networks have started to implement restrictions on the sale of diesel fuel per refueling, limiting it to between 50 and 100 liters. This measure is primarily affecting stations located on highways, which are frequented by truck drivers and long-distance carriers. It is now more advantageous for them to refuel at gas stations than at oil depots, as the difference between wholesale and retail prices has significantly decreased.

Several operators have already adopted this measure; for example, the OKKO network has set a maximum limit of 100 liters per refueling. The purpose of these restrictions is to prevent the rapid depletion of fuel supplies, as logistics chains do not always manage to replenish them in a timely manner. The deficit is a consequence of a sharp decrease in supplies to Ukraine, limitations on deliveries from Europe, and the silting of the Danube, which has complicated river transportation.

At the same time, the country is struggling to offset the shortfall through other channels. According to expert estimates, a complete halt to diesel fuel sales is not anticipated in the near future, but it will periodically become unavailable at certain gas stations. As of July 31, the average price of diesel fuel in Ukraine reached 90.55 hryvnias (approximately $2.03) per liter.
