Armenia, On the Brink of Disaster for the Last 8 Years, Has Not Progressed: Gurgen Simonyan
It is very encouraging; many people are expressing words of support and receiving us warmly. This was stated today, on May 12, during a campaign rally in Yerevan, by Gurgen Simonyan, the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia and candidate for Prime Minister.
"This is also my first experience, and I evaluate it very positively as a first attempt. I simply feel a responsibility towards the acceptance of the Armenian people. Citizens are approaching us with numerous problems; the main issue is the lack of justice, which has not been restored in the Republic of Armenia. There were expectations, desires, and dreams that have not materialized. There are many social issues, the question of job creation, the continuously falling and depreciating dram, and the decline in purchasing power. The questions are enormous. We suffer because during the last eight years, Armenia has not progressed significantly and remains on the brink of disaster, with most of the problems left unresolved," said Simonyan.
When asked whether they expect their party to be represented in the next parliament, Gurgen Simonyan replied, "We hope, and considering the support of our people, we even aspire to victory and are working towards it. The rest depends on what people want; citizens will determine that. We have a unique opportunity—let's go to the elections and record unprecedented participation since 1991 as a whole nation."
