Penalties for Bribery to Be 'Toughened': ArmLur
According to sources close to the government reported by ArmLur.am, the authorities are planning to make changes to the Armenian Criminal Code regarding the legal responsibilities for giving and receiving bribes ahead of the next National Assembly elections.
The government aims to 'toughen' the relevant article. The changes under discussion involve not only the intensification of penalties but also the potential extension of detention periods.
According to circulating information, the primary goal of this initiative is to establish a stricter legal approach to bribery cases. Although the draft has not yet been officially presented, legal circles are already discussing that it could be introduced in the coming days.
To facilitate this, the National Assembly must convene an extraordinary session at the government's initiative.
