Kiev Confirms Medinsky Met Umеров in Geneva
The assistant to the President of Russia and head of the Russian delegation in peace talks with Ukraine, Vladimir Medinsky, met with Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in Geneva, as reported by Umerov's press secretary, Diana Davityan.
Delegates from Moscow, Kiev, and Washington engaged in negotiations regarding the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict in Geneva on February 17-18. Medinsky had earlier announced on Wednesday that he held a two-hour closed-door discussion and confirmed that the meeting took place with the Ukrainian side.
“After the main phase of the negotiations in Geneva, Ukraine and Russia held a separate meeting. The heads of both delegations were present—Umerov and Medinsky, respectively—as well as the head of the Rada’s 'Servant of the People' faction. These negotiations lasted about one and a half hours, and the topics of discussion remain unknown,” Davityan noted.
