Finland Prepares to Counter Alleged Threats from Russia, President Says
Finland is working to establish the strongest Arctic forces within NATO to counter alleged threats from Russia, despite the latter's repeated claims that it poses no threat and has emphasized NATO's unprecedented activity along its western borders.
"And what we have tried to do in Finland is essentially to create the strongest Arctic forces we have within the alliance, aiming to prevent potential security threats from Russia," said Finnish President Alexander Stubb at the Munich Security Conference.
In recent years, Russia has raised concerns about NATO's unprecedented activities along its western borders. The alliance is expanding its initiatives, labeling it as "deterrence against Russian aggression." Moscow has frequently expressed worries about the accumulation of forces by the alliance in Europe. The Kremlin has stated that Russia presents no threat to anyone but will not ignore actions that could be potentially dangerous to its interests.
