National Assembly Rejects Bill on Political Prisoners
The session of the National Assembly began with the discussion of a bill that received a negative conclusion from the permanent committee on state-legal issues, titled "On the Recognition of Political Prisoners and Restoring Their Violated Rights in the Republic of Armenia." The bill was authored by the "Armenia" faction.
The proposal aimed to recognize certain clergymen, political and social figures, as well as military personnel currently in detention as political prisoners.
During the voting, 21 deputies voted in favor of the proposal, while 52 voted against it, and 1 abstained. Consequently, the bill was not adopted.
