One Arrested in Case of Rustam Stepanyan's Father's Murder
On December 31, around 18:38, the National Police of Armenia received a report of gunfire on Komitas Avenue. This was confirmed by the police department of the Republic of Armenia.
Minutes later, another call came from one of the medical centers, informing that an ambulance had transported Robert Stepanyan with gunshot injuries.
It was revealed that on the same day, at approximately 18:35, an unknown person fired multiple shots using firearms of various calibers at a 'Toyota' vehicle in the courtyard of building 44 on Komitas Avenue and then fled the scene, resulting in Robert Stepanyan sustaining gunshot wounds to different parts of his body, leading to his death.
As part of the initiated criminal proceedings, extensive operational-investigative measures were carried out, revealing that a 45-year-old resident of Yerevan had provided information about Robert Stepanyan being in the vehicle to a 41-year-old resident of the capital.
The 41-year-old man fired from illegal firearms he possessed at Robert Stepanyan and, after the incident, both the 41 and 45-year-old men fled the scene.
Thanks to the extensive operational-investigative measures undertaken by the officers of the criminal police department of Yerevan, the identities of those involved in the crime were determined.
The 41-year-old resident of Yerevan has been located and arrested. Efforts are underway to find the other individual involved in the crime.
The investigation is ongoing.
