The 'Largest' Amnesty Process in Azerbaijan's History Has Begun
Azerbaijan has launched the implementation of a decision adopted by the parliament regarding the declaration of an amnesty in connection with the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty." This information has been reported by Azerbaijani media.
According to the preliminary list of the amnesty law, nearly 5,000 individuals will be released, while the sentences of over 3,000 others will be reduced by six months. Additionally, the amnesty will apply to a total of more than 10,000 individuals who have been sentenced to penalties not related to imprisonment.
The project stipulates that the amnesty will extend to participants in the "Patriotic War" and the anti-terrorist operation conducted on September 19-20, 2023, as well as their relatives and socially vulnerable groups.
It is noted that this amnesty will be the largest in Azerbaijan's history.
