I Will Decide Whether to Omit the Name of the Catholicos During the Liturgy, Says Father Mashtots of Aygeshat Church
It remains unclear who will officiate the liturgy at the Aygeshat church in the enlarged community of Metsamor, which will also be attended by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was stated by the church's priest, Father Mashtots Stepanyan, in a conversation with NEWS.am.
“I can also officiate, what’s the problem?” he said.
In response to the inquiry about whether the name of the Catholicos will be omitted during the service, leading some to decide whether to attend or not, he reacted: “Those who want to come, let them come; those who do not want to… the church doors are open to everyone, there are no restrictions. For those who do not want to, may God be with them. I will decide whether to omit it or not during the liturgy. Don't jump to conclusions too soon. I have my own personal opinions and I haven't joined anyone.”
It is reminded that Nikol Pashinyan announced that on Sunday, December 14, he will participate in the holy and immortal liturgy at St. George Church in Aygeshat, a locality in the enlarged community of Metsamor, Armavir Province.
