Doubts About the Sincerity of Pashinyan's Statements, Says Azerbaijani MP

Separating one group artificially, giving it certain priority, and completely ignoring all others is an attempt to play with the interests of certain factions within Armenia's political elite that still speak of revenge and revanchist sentiments. This was stated by Azerbaijan's former Foreign Minister Tofig Zulfuqarov.

"Such formulations are presented as concerns for the needy, but in reality, they add components to the agenda of regulation following the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan that do not bring them closer but rather push them further apart," said the former foreign minister of Azerbaijan.

He noted that there are two main questions arising around the document. The first concerns how closely those working on it in Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed the instructions of the state leader. The second is why certain circles within European structures, which should have a detailed understanding of these topics, accepted the approach presented by Armenian representatives regarding the consequences or problems arising from this conflict.

"The EU-Armenia document, instead of facilitating rapprochement between the two states or societies, creates obstacles and effectively serves to continue the confrontation," he emphasized.

Zulfuqarov expressed doubts about the sincerity of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's intentions to support the peace agenda.
