New Tensions Between Latvia and Russia
The state company 'Lithuanian Railways' has announced that after the end of the transitional period, it has ceased the transit of freight belonging to the 'Lukoil' oil holding and related organizations from the mainland of Russia to the Kaliningrad region. According to the statement, the restriction came into effect on November 21.
The company reported that not only crude oil but also cargo belonging to the category of petroleum products, which had previously been transported towards Kaliningrad, will no longer be shipped by rail. The decision is linked to the expiration of current regulations and established deadlines.
The Lithuanian rail operator indicated that all relevant parties have been informed, and the cessation of transport has been organized in accordance with the established rules. The company did not disclose further details.
