Washington Agreements Will Expand Opportunities for Georgia, Vahan Kostanyan
After the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington, not only an unblocking is planned between the two countries, but new opportunities will also be created for Georgia.
As reported by Armenpress, this was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, part of the delegation led by President Vahagn Khachaturyan during their visit to Georgia, summarizing the meetings held in Tbilisi.
Kostanyan noted that Armenia and Georgia continuously discuss their concerns in an open format. “Armenia and Georgia consistently have very open communications concerning mutual issues. We also naturally talk about regional cooperation, because after the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, an unblocking is set to occur not only between Armenia and Azerbaijan but it will also open up new opportunities for our friendly Georgia,” he emphasized, adding that the President also addressed these issues during the visit.
He mentioned that cooperation between Armenia and Georgia continues to be active in various fields. “In the past 1-2 months, we have had the Prime Minister's visit, the Foreign Minister was recently in Tbilisi, the Minister of Justice was also here, and next week, we expect the visit of the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. Communications are also ongoing in a remote format,” the Deputy Minister stated.
It is noted that on August 8 in Washington, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a preliminary peace agreement, regarding which the leaders of both countries have already announced about the establishment of peace. Following a summit attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, the parties signed a declaration.
