Venezuela's President Proposes to the U.S.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has proposed that the United States resign during a two-to-three year transitional period. He presented this idea during unofficial negotiations, according to sources reported by The New York Times.
The White House has rejected his proposal and demanded his immediate resignation.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump held two meetings with senior advisors at the White House to discuss the situation in Venezuela and possible options.
Trump ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to prepare several covert operation plans in Venezuelan territory and has also commenced secret negotiations with the Venezuelan government that had been suspended last month.
