Turkey and the United Kingdom Close to Signing Billion-Dollar Military Deal
According to the British publication Middle East Eye, a billion-dollar military deal is set to be signed between Turkey and the United Kingdom during an upcoming high-level meeting. Notably, the meeting will take place in Ankara, where UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meeting is expected to finalize the agreement on the acquisition of Eurofighter jets.
Turkish sources indicate that prior to Starmer's visit to Ankara, the UK had already sent two Eurofighter jets as a symbolic confirmation of the agreement. It is worth noting that Turkey initiated negotiations for the purchase of European fighter jets in 2023. In July 2025, the parties had preliminary signed an agreement to purchase 40 Eurofighter units, but the deal's total value and several technical details had yet to be clarified.
