Conditions Under Which Vardan Ghukasyan Is Being Held Revealed by Lawyer
Vardan Ghukasyan has been subject to apparent inhumane treatment, stated his lawyer Zaruhy Postanjyan during a conversation with journalists. "Since yesterday at 10:00 AM, Vardan Ghukasyan has not been provided with food, yet he has serious health issues. He does not have appropriate clothing and is still in work attire, while the weather has significantly changed since yesterday with a sharp drop in temperature. He is also deprived of hygienic conditions. In other words, within these 24 hours, while I have managed to wash, eat, and change my clothes, he has been deprived of these basic necessities. This arrest operation is absolutely illegal. A person has been detained for two months, and the city has been deprived of its leader," Postanjyan said.
She showed a document given to her outside the court and indicated that it was incomplete, promising that the complete court ruling would be communicated later that evening. "With this incomplete document, they have deprived Gyumri of its leader. We are dealing with an obviously fabricated, ordered case aimed at stripping Gyumri of its governance possibilities. They want to create chaos there. There is no factual basis for this," Postanjyan added.
