Merkel Explains Why He Cried in Synagogue
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has explained why he cried in a synagogue while discussing the rise of anti-Semitic sentiments in Germany.
“It is difficult for me to talk about the suffering of children. And you can read about it everywhere... I want our country to be and remain a place where children, including Jewish children, can live and grow up safely,” Merz stated.
He noted that since 1998, he is the first Chancellor of Germany with children, and this is crucial for his political work.
