39 People Killed During Rally in India
In the town of Karur, located in southern India, 39 individuals lost their lives due to a stampede that occurred during a rally. Approximately 100 others were injured, as reported by TASS, referencing NDTV.
The stampede took place during a pre-election rally for the famous actor and politician Vijay. Two leaders of Vijay’s party, TVK, have been charged in connection with the incident. The Tamil Nadu government has reported a violation of rally regulations.
Initial reports indicate that the organizers were unable to provide water and food for the thousands of participants. Attendees had waited for more than seven hours for Vijay to arrive. As a result, some individuals began to lose consciousness and collapse, resulting in the stampede.
During Vijay's speech, the lights suddenly went out, causing panic within the crowd. Ambulances were unable to reach the scene due to the chaos. Following the stampede, Vijay canceled the rally. His party claims that all necessary regulations and police directives were adhered to during the event.
