We Want to Remain Independent: Pezeshkian
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has stated that the destructive policies of the United States and its allies are unacceptable for Tehran. Iran supports agreements made within the frameworks of the EAEU and BRICS.
Pezeshkian made this statement during negotiations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. “I confirm that we share common positions and views on globally significant issues, particularly regarding the agreements reached within the Eurasian Economic Union and the BRICS framework. These are indeed possible frameworks through which we can develop both bilateral and multilateral relations. The unilateral destructive approach applied by the United States and its allies worldwide is unacceptable for us. We want to remain independent - both our country and your country, and within the framework of independent decisions, we can develop our friendship and cooperation,” said the Iranian president.
He labeled the Western sanctions against Iran and Belarus as illegal. “They have been enforcing sanctions against our country for more than 40 years, and recently they have begun applying sanctions against you as well. We understand that the only thing that can neutralize all these illegal sanctions is the development of our relations and the practical implementation of the agreements,” the Iranian president added.
