Proposal in Russia to Ban Labor Migrants from Bringing Families

There is a need to prohibit labor migrants from bringing their families to Russia. They should work in the Russian Federation on a “shift-based” system, stated Sergey Mironov, the leader of the A Just Russia – For Truth party and head of the Duma faction, to RIA Novosti.

According to him, this method of employment would resolve several issues, including reducing the burden on schools and kindergartens. “Given the current situation where there are already a vast number of migrant children in Russia, priority for admission to educational institutions should certainly be given to Russian children, the indigenous population. For those families that, for various reasons, do not have a place in kindergarten, the state should provide compensation for the child at least at the minimum subsistence level. Our party has been striving for this for years, and we will raise this issue again during the autumn session,” he concluded.
