Ukraine is Very Close to Developing Ballistic Missiles to Hit Deep into Russia, Defense Minister
Ukraine is working on the development of ballistic missiles and is very close to having its own weapons to strike deep into Russia, stated Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmyhal in an interview with BBC News Ukraine.
When asked when Ukrainian ballistic missiles could be seen and used regularly against targets in Russia, Shmyhal indicated that Ukraine is very near to that capability.
"The President of Ukraine has already announced that Ukraine will have its own ballistic capabilities. We are very close to that. This is essentially all I can publicly disclose on the matter," he emphasized.
According to RBC-Ukraine, in May of this year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered to expedite the development of ballistic missiles as quickly as possible. "The issue is to accelerate the creation of Ukrainian ballistic missiles as much as possible. Our long-range capabilities are a clear and effective guarantee of Ukraine's security," he stated at that time.
