Peskov Comments on NATO Threats Against Kaliningrad Region
The North Atlantic Alliance is a hostile bloc that forces Russia to take measures to ensure its security. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of Russia, during a press briefing, commenting on statements by NATO representatives about the possibility of destroying the Kaliningrad region.
“Well, this is yet another statement among a series of hostile, aggressive announcements that we often hear now. NATO is a tool for confrontation; it is an alliance that is hostile toward our country. And, of course, this forces us to take all of this into account and take appropriate measures to ensure our own security,” said the Kremlin representative.
Earlier, speaking at the LandEuro conference held by the U.S. Army Association in Germany, General Christopher Donahue, commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, stated that NATO and its allies have all the capabilities to destroy the Kaliningrad region. According to Donahue, the Kaliningrad region is surrounded by NATO member states on all sides, and now U.S. military forces and their allies can “wipe it off the map in an incredible time frame and faster than we have ever been able to do.”
