Investigators Provide Details on Indecent Acts by Passengers in Public Transport
In connection with a controversial video from Yerevan's public transport, Auroranews reached out to the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, Kima Avdalyan, for clarification. In our conversation, Avdalyan stated, ‘A criminal proceeding has been initiated based on the characteristics of part 1 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code.’
It is noteworthy that Gegham Asatryan, the spokesman for ‘Yerevan Bus’ LLC, reported that the incident occurred on July 15 at around 19:30, on a vehicle serving route 5, at the intersection of Mashtots Avenue and Pushkin Street. Two young men committed indecent acts against female passengers. The driver noticed conversations taking place on the bus and, realizing what the discussion was about and understanding the complaints of the female passengers, approached the young men without continuing the journey and urged them to get off. After that, the men allegedly assaulted the driver, while other passengers defended him and the women, urging the men to exit the bus. Ultimately, the driver succeeded in removing the two young men and continued the journey.
