Russia's Foreign Ministry on Disagreements in Moscow and Baku Relations
Russia sees active efforts by certain forces to disrupt relations between Moscow and Baku. This was stated by Dmitry Masyuk, Deputy Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, as reported by TASS.
“We see active efforts by certain forces to create a rift in our relations with Baku. There are insinuations regarding the AZAL plane crash last December, which, among other things, led to the closure of the Russian House in Baku,” said the diplomat.
The Russian side is consistently conveying its principled positions to Azerbaijan regarding neutralizing the damage caused to their relations. “Today they are trying to accuse us of exerting pressure on ethnic Azerbaijanis in Russia due to the recent arrests of Russian citizens suspected of serious crimes in Yekaterinburg. From our side, we consistently communicate our principled stance to our Azerbaijani colleagues to neutralize the damage inflicted on our bilateral relations with Baku. We expect that the leadership of Azerbaijan will also adhere to this line,” noted Dmitry Masyuk.
