Why the Russian Consulate General is not yet operational in Syunik must be clarified by the Armenian side: Russian Foreign Ministry
Why the Russian consulate general is not yet operational in Syunik must be clarified by the Armenian side, said Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a briefing while responding to a question about when the consulate in Kapan would open.
She emphasized that the issue of opening a Russian consulate general in Kapan was thoroughly discussed during the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Armenia. “We do not need to be convinced of the necessity of opening a consulate in that region as soon as possible. For now, there is no Russian consulate in Kapan, so to receive an official stance on this matter, one must turn to the Armenian side,” Zakharova stated.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot mentioned at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan that a French consulate would be opened in Goris.
