Peskov on Trump's Statements
A number of media outlets are conducting a campaign to disrupt the negotiation process for resolving the conflict in Ukraine and are urging U.S. President Donald Trump to impose new sanctions against Russia. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, during a briefing.
“We see that a large number of media outlets are essentially participating in a campaign aimed at undermining the peace process, which aims to provoke additional sanctions against Russia,” he said.
According to Peskov, the Russian side is keenly aware of these trends and fully understands them.
On May 26, Trump criticized Putin's actions in Ukraine and announced the potential imposition of new sanctions against Russia. This statement followed extensive strikes by Russian troops on targets within Ukraine.
At the same time, after the conversation between the American leader and his Russian counterpart, The New York Times reported that Trump stated he had no plans to increase pressure on Russia through sanctions.
