Andreasian on Pashinyan's Statement Regarding Officials' Ignorance
I think that this is a figurative expression aimed at showing that each of us constantly needs to learn, and this is more than an obvious fact. This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasian in an interview with NEWS.am in the National Assembly.
She spoke about the statements made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the Cabinet meeting the day before, saying that we have all remained in the same classroom for 7 years and that the government is ignorant, among other things.
The issues we have and the uncertainties that exist demonstrate that our existing experience and knowledge cannot be considered sufficient and that there is a constant need for renewal; each of us needs to work on ourselves continuously in order to approach issues more comprehensively.
In the case of specific officials, this is also important from the perspective that the connection to reality and the reflection of the decisions we make in reality should always be clear and straightforward for us. This is generally one of the biggest problems of bureaucratic systems, where when people work on a particular issue for a long time without direct guidance from stakeholders, there is a risk that this connection may simply be lost.
For example, we may decide to implement a good program in this area for these stakeholders, but if the opinions of these stakeholders and their problems are not studied, our decisions cannot reflect the existing issues completely. It seems very simple to me, but we are talking about very important things that are true in all times and all countries,” the minister said.
Responding to the remark that Nikol Pashinyan also stated that we are all personally ignorant and that the ignorance of the villager stems from our ignorance, Andreasian remarked, “I would not call it that way; I already talked about the context in which these issues should be viewed, and I believe there is nothing uncomfortable about acknowledging that each of us needs to learn.”
