Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Residents Issues Statement
The Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Residents, based on the one-week deadline announced during the massive rally on March 29 and the developments that have taken place during this time, declares:
- The Government of Armenia has not responded appropriately to the demands of the rally, having only very limited discussions with our representatives. In addition, the government has provided us with a written response, making certain comments regarding the five points of our demands, which largely do not correspond to our perceptions. Their only practical proposal has been the establishment of expert groups to develop certain solutions.
- Considering the confidence given by the wide public and the expectations formed towards the Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Residents, we announce the next actions of our struggle, within which we will take the following steps:
- We are initiating a broad unification process, calling on all concerned public and political forces and figures from Artsakh, Armenia, and the diaspora to unite around the agenda we have presented and to support this national struggle. All interested parties are invited to approach the headquarters tent located at Freedom Square, where we will discuss our subsequent actions together.
- Until April 15, based on the public discussions and unification that will take place, we will announce the date and location of our next major rally, which will be followed by specific mass actions.
- During this period, we will organize local gatherings for protests and awareness at various locations and institutions, presenting our demands and related provisions.
We urge all our compatriots not to be disheartened and to be ready for a consistent and decisive struggle for all our rights and just demands. We believe that the presented demands are issues on the agenda of the entire Armenian nation, and we expect the support of all, regardless of residence and origin.
