Secret Work Ongoing: Yielding to Azerbaijan Won't Lead to Any Good Place, Ohanyan
The issue related to detainees should constantly be on the negotiation table, and the authorities must work accordingly in this direction. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the 'Armenia' faction.
“I believe that even if secret work is being carried out, it should not exclude the public work that must be evident, and the authorities in Armenia must be attentive to the families of the detainees. Constant concessions to Azerbaijan will lead to no good place. We continually raise the question that our military-political leaders in Azerbaijan are those who were legally elected during the time of Artsakh’s self-determination and also throughout the entire activity of the Republic of Artsakh thereafter,” Ohanyan said.
He mentioned that inhumane treatment is being exhibited towards these leaders, and a false trial is being conducted, which is not only judging the mentioned individuals but also directing all accusations towards the right of self-determination of Artsakh and toward the Republic of Armenia.
“In this case, the authority that has the greatest levers to work in this direction, when the arrows are directed at them, if all of this must yield, it is similar to the fact that after the defeat in this 44-day war, the authorities of Armenia are continuously making concessions, under pressure and coercion. One day, that must be confronted. The effective way to do this is that the defeated authorities should have left earlier, and they should still feel this today. It is in our interest that the military-political leaders of Artsakh do not participate in false trials and are not condemned for defending the idea of Artsakh's self-determination and leading that defense to maintain Artsakh as Armenian for many years,” Ohanyan concluded.
