Ombudsman Releases Statement Regarding Gagik Khachatryan

The Office of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) has initiated discussions regarding a video circulating online about Gagik Khachatryan, immediately following the video's release. This was reported by the HRD office.

At the request of the Defender, a visit is currently being conducted at a correctional facility to have a private conversation with the individual and to investigate circumstances related to the protection of his rights.

Clarifications are required from competent authorities to ascertain the main circumstances surrounding the issue. Following the results of the visit, the clarifications received, and a comprehensive review of all relevant circumstances, it will be possible to present the position of the Human Rights Defender's office.
