EAEU Could Become a G20 Member, Lavrov Says
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is demonstrating positive dynamics, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He mentioned, "The EAEU is investing in the development of global economic relations and could potentially aspire to secure a place in the G20 in the future."
Lavrov reminded that since last year, the African Union has become a full member of the G20, and now the Arab League and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States are also interested in joining.
"We welcome this disposition and believe that at some point, the Eurasian Economic Union could aspire to similar status, as all the aforementioned associations are demonstrating positive dynamics in their contributions to the development of international economic relations," Lavrov added.
The members of the Eurasian Economic Union include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan.
